A program that provides free flights to kids is marking its 25th anniversary today at EAA AirVenture.
The Young Eagles organization has chapters throughout the U.S. with volunteer pilots.
Co-pilot Jeff Skiles from the Miracle on the Hudson flight is this year’s chair and says the program gave more than 2 million children the opportunity to fly so far.
Skiles says when they started they hoped to provide 1 million flights by 2003.
That was the 100th anniversary of the Wright Brothers first flight. Skiles says after they surpassed that, volunteers wanted to keep going.
