Organizers of the Loop the Lake project in Menasha and Neenah hope to get things going this winter.
They want to build two trestle bridges to connect a trail around the southern end of Little Lake Butte des Morts. The initial bids that were received in April were between $675,000 and nearly $800,000 more than the estimates.
Future Neenah Executive Director Amy Barker says they’re going back out for bid this week. She says they tightened up their plans, in hopes of lowering the cost.
The project was expected to cost about $3.2 million. Future Neenah was working to raise $1 million. The state is providing a $1.6 million grant, and Neenah and Menasha agreed to cover the rest of the price tag.
