A 62-year-old Waupaca County man is in custody on a $5 million bond, after sheriff’s deputies say he shot at them.
Prosecutors are charging James Dax with six counts of attempted murder…and making terrorist threats. The Waupaca County sheriff’s department says SWAT teams went to his home, south of New London, on Friday afternoon. Deputies say there was a warrant for his arrest on a domestic violence battery charge.
They say Dax started firing, and a Waupaca County deputy was shot. The wound was not life threatening.
The SWAT teams from Outagamie and Wood counties were also there to help.
