The race for a spot in Congress is already getting underway.
Democrat Beau Liegeois of Allouez is going to run against Republican Mike Gallagher of Green Bay, in the 8th district. Liegeois is a prosecutor for the Brown County district attorney’s office, and a captain in the Wisconsin Army National Guard.
Liegeois says health care is a big reason that he’s stepping forward. He pointed to the vote in the House of Representatives on a bill that would’ve taken away health care from millions of people. He says it didn’t do anything to address rising insurance premiums, or the cost of health care in general.
Liegeois is a native of the Green Bay area. He lives in Allouez with his wife and daughter.
Gallagher was elected to his first term last fall. He’s up for re-election in the fall of next year.
