Two state lawmakers, on opposite sides of the aisle, want a provision in the $76 billion two-year budget out.
The plan, put in by an unknown author, prohibits local governments and the D-O-T from condemning property to extend recreational trails and even sidewalks.
Rep. Sen. Rob Cowles of Allouez says the plan never had a public hearing. Cowles wrote a letter to Gov. Walker asking him to veto the proposal.
Dem. Rep. Eric Genrich of Green Bay says he doesn’t understand why the provision was added to the budget. He says it’s a bit of a head scratcher.
