A new program at UW Madison is helping first generation college students.
Madison Chancellor Rebecca Blank says it’s called the Badger Promise. She says it helps students transferring from two-year colleges financially.
The program pays tuition and fees that aren’t covered by grants and scholarships.
About 140 transfer students started fall classes through Badger Promise.
It’s paid for by federal, state, and private funds. It’s capped at 150 students a year.
