One of the major employers in the Fox Cities is filing for bankruptcy protection.
About 850 people work for Appvion in the Fox Cities. The company announced the decision to file for Chapter 11 yesterday.
Spokesman Bill Van Den Brandt says the company’s current capital structure is unsustainable, despite long-running efforts to address the current debt load.
He says the move allows the company to move toward a more sustainable financial structure, while continuing to operate. He says business will continue as usual, and employees will see little change.
Van Den Brandt says they’ll work as quickly as possible to move through the process.
