U.S. Supreme Court justices heard arguments in a lawsuit over Wisconsin’s political maps, and supporters of redistricting reform rallied outside.
Former Republican California governor and actor Arnold Schwarzenegger was among them. He says right now, it’s a system of where the politicians are picking their voters, rather than the voters picking their politicians.
Opponents of the maps that Majority Republicans drew in 2011 argue they give the GOP an unconstitutional advantage. Republicans contend they were drawn legally.
A lower court ruling threw out the maps, and the state appealed to the Supreme Court. It could be several months before justices issue a ruling.
