The Oshkosh City Council voted unanimously to sell the Lakeshore Municipal Golf Course property to Oshkosh Corporation. The Fortune 500 company is interested in buying the land.
The company has been getting offers from other cities to leave Wisconsin and build elsewhere.
The sale will allow the company to buy 35 acres of the golf course at 100-thousand dollars per acre.
That leaves 65 acres open for the city to use as green space. City manager Mark Rohloff says the area is ideal for a riverwalk, parks and shops.
Oshkosh Corp. likes the golf course site and now officials have to decide if they actually want to buy it. If they do, construction could start in spring of 2018 and be completed by December of 2019.
