Work on Jones Park in downtown Appleton won’t start until next year after all.
City parks and recreation director Dean Gazza says they decided to wait until the spring after a second round of bids for several winter projects came in. He says it’s not a setback.
The city was looking to start some utility work and spread out the dirt that was removed from the expo center site. Gazza says once the ground freezes it could be tough to compact that dirt properly.
There’s about $2 million in next year’s city budget to revamp Jones Park.
