The worst partisan tendencies of media outlets could be easily overcome if we consumed a media diet full of diverse opinions and perspectives. To the contrary, people often select only media sources that reinforce what they already believe. These self-constructed echo chambers have numerous negative effects, all of which work to the benefit of partisan interests.
