About 50 workers are being called back to the Appleton Coated paper mill.
The current owners, Industrial Assets, decided to turn on one of the machines, at least temporarily.
The company bought the mill in Combined Locks in an auction. There’s a search for another buyer to run the facility long term.
Outagamie County Executive Tom Nelson says while it’s apparently only on a limited basis, it’s better than having the mill sit idle. He says he’s excited for the workers, and they’ll continue to keep fighting.
About 600 workers lost their jobs in September, after the mill went into receivership. The United Steelworkers Union was involved in the push to turn the one machine back on.
