A 19-year-old Seymour man reached a plea deal in a crash that claimed the life of a teenager.
Prosecutors say Blake Doxtator was speeding on Bain Road in the town of Oneida on Halloween of last year when his minivan went into a ditch and rolled over.
13-year-old Braxton Kasee and several other boys were riding with him after they went trick-or-treating. Kasee was killed. He was a student at Seymour Middle School.
Doxtator entered no contest pleas to charges of homicide by negligent driving and first-degree reckless endangerment.
Prosecutors say one of the boys posted a Snapchat showing them going 97 miles an hour. They say Doxtator claimed he wasn’t speeding and that a deer jumped out in front of him.
