A 20-year-old man is going to prison for 15 years for a drugged driving crash that took the lives of three teens in Shawano County.
Ryan Swadner was 17 when prosecutors say he was high on marijuana and speeding, on Highway 22 in October of 2014. They say he lost control of his vehicle in the town of Belle Plaine.
Fifteen-year-old Paige Brunette, 17-year-old Cody Borsche, and 18-year-old Tyler Welch were killed. Welch and Borsche were seniors at Shawano High School, and Brunette was a sophomore at Bonduel.
Swadner was convicted of three counts of homicide by drugged driving last October, as part of a plea deal. He’ll also spend 30 years on probation, after he’s released from prison.
