A De Pere woman and former state trooper is facing several charges of abusing and neglecting her adopted children.
Prosecutors believe the abuse went on for over a decade. Fifty-four-year-old Sharon Windey was in Brown County Court yesterday.
Investigators found “overwhelming” confirmation that since 2006, there have been referrals to Child Protective Services, police contacts, and reports from school officials.
The children are two girls and one boy, and they’re between 14 and 15.
Windey’s husband and 25-year-old son are also mentioned by investigators, but they haven’t been charged.
