An 18-year-old man is going to prison for the shooting death of a teenage boy in the Waupaca area.
Austin Hovarter was sentenced to 10 years behind bars on a charge of first-degree reckless homicide. Prosecutors say 15-year-old Jacob Peglow was killed at Hovarter’s house, northwest of Waupaca, in July of last year.
They say Hovarter said they were playing cops and robbers, and Hovarter shot Peglow in the shoulder. Peglow died at the home in the town of Farmington.
Hovarter will also spend 10 years on probation after he’s released.
