How do you feel when you get back from a walk outside? Why do you tell rambunctious kids to “go outside” to play? Where would you choose to spend an hour of quiet contemplation, if you had the time?
These questions all provoke thoughts about time spent outdoors and the value of nature in our lives. This has been the focus of research and writing by author and journalist Richard Louv, best known for his book Last Child in the Woods: Saving Our Children from Nature Deficit Disorder.
