A regional sports complex in Grand Chute is expected to start taking shape this summer.
The Fox Cities Convention and Visitors Bureau plans to run the facility with hard courts and ice to draw more tournaments and visitors to the area.
Town Chair Dave Schowalter says they’re going to be working on the financing for the loan. He says the closing date is expected to be at the end of June.
Schowalter says construction would get underway shortly after that and the facility could be finished in October of next year. The sports venue will be on the north side of Greenville Drive, east of McCarthy Road.
It could cost $25 million and revenue from the hotel room tax would pay for it.
The town of Grand Chute would own the building through a new Community Development Authority.
