A 48-year-old man is going to prison for the rest of his life for a standoff in downtown Neenah.
Winnebago County Judge John Jorgensen this morning sentenced Brian Flatoff to 100 years behind bars.
A jury convicted Flatoff of all 14 counts against him, including felony murder for the death of Michael Funk.
Flatoff went to Eagle Nation Cycles in December of 2015 because of a dispute over a motorcycle. He took people hostage, and had a shootout with police.
Hostage Michael Funk was shot and killed by two Neenah police officers while he was trying to escape. Funk ran out of the building with a gun.
Tomorrow, the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago will hear arguments in a federal lawsuit filed by Funk’s widow. Theresa Funk is suing the city of Neenah over her husband’s death. A federal judge dismissed the suit, and the appeals court agreed to hear the case.
