Local businesses are already looking for temporary workers for this year’s holiday season.
Kohl’s sent out a statement saying the department store they’re hiring workers sooner than ever. Company officials say they want to make sure they have a full staff that’s trained for the peak shopping days.
Matt Valiquette is with the Bay Area Workforce Development Board. He says he’s not surprised. He says their competition is other employers also have workforce needs that need to be met. He says they’re trying to get out of the gate as early as possible.
Valiquette says in northeast Wisconsin unemployment is at about two-point-two percent. He says they’ve also seen some employers raising entry-level pay.
Valiquette says the situation will help people looking to get their foot in the door.
