Justices on the state Supreme Court say a Marquette University professor should get his job back.
Conservative Professor John McAdams was fired in the wake of a blog post he made about a student instructor. He thought she shut down discussion about opposition to gay marriage.
McAdams sued the school in 2016, arguing his free speech rights were violated. He was a guest on Fresh Take with Josh Dukelow on WHBY this morning.
He doesn’t think there will be awkwardness when he returns to campus. McAdams says that’s because administrators wanted him out, and he will usually only interact with students.
Marquette officials say McAdams was disciplined because he named the instructor and linked to her personal website, and not for the content of his 2014 post. The website had the instructor’s contact information on it, and the woman received threats and hateful messages.
The court’s decision was 5-2.
