Construction is expected to start soon on a donated amphitheater in Jones Park in downtown Appleton.
Miron Construction will spend about $1 million on the facility to celebrate the company’s 100th anniversary. The city council took the formal step of accepting the gift this week.
Dean Gazza is the city’s parks and recreation director. He says they’ve already gotten a lot of questions about the capacity, and what kind of events it can hold. He says they’re thrilled to know that it’ll be well-used.
The city removed the amphitheater from the initial project because of the costs.
Gazza says Miron hopes to finish building it in October. The park isn’t expected to reopen until sometime next summer because the grass has to be ready.
