Hobart firefighters had to help a farmer before they could put out a barn fire.
The farmer was having a heart attack, and his condition isn’t known.
Crews were called to the Dutchman Creek Dairy Farm, near the corner of S. Overland Road and Highway EE, after 10 p.m. yesterday.
First Assistant Fire Chief Jim Henn says the farmer was able to save about 90 cattle before crews arrived, but around 20 died. He says they were able to push the fire away from an area, where nine other cattle were trapped. He says they were able to save them.
The barn is a total loss, and the cause is under investigation.
