Governor-elect Tony Evers says a proposal to limit early voting would have the state moving in the opposite direction.
The provision in a larger bill would only allow early voting up to 14 days before an election. Majority Republicans approved it in this week’s controversial lame-duck session.
Evers was in downtown Appleton yesterday. He says it’s not in the state’s best interest to make it harder to vote.
Some groups are threatening to file a lawsuit over the time limit. A federal judge threw out similar restrictions a couple of years ago and the state’s appeal is pending.
