OSHKOSH, Wis–A former Winnebago County judge wants back on the bench. LeKeisha Haase announces her intention to challenge incumbent Judge Scott Woldt in Branch Two.
Haase was appointed Winnebago County Judge by Governor Tony Evers in December of 2020. She then lost an election for that seat in April to Judge Mike Gibbs.
In a statement announcing her candidacy, Haase claims Branch Two is currently lacking in “integrity”. Judge Woldt was suspended by the state Supreme Court for seven days in 2021 for what it called a series of misconduct.
Those incidents include showing off a gun in his courtroom, referring to a teenage girl in a sexual assault case as an “alleged victim”, and berating domestic violence victims for defending their attackers in court.
That election is scheduled for April 4th.
