One of Brendan Dassey’s lawyers says his “blood ran cold” while he was looking at the convicted murder’s confession.
Dassey’s attorneys are asking Governor Evers to pardon him, or release him from prison. A jury ruled Dassey was guilty of the 2005 murder of Teresa Halbach.
Attorney Seth Waxman says he also represents death row inmates on their appeals, and he’s never had a case that’s troubled him so much. He says it makes him anxious and sad, because he knows Dassey is innocent.
The now 29-year-old Dassey won’t be eligible for parole for another 29 years. He was 16 when he confessed, and he’s serving a life prison sentence.
