Outagamie County could leave a regional planning group at the end of the year.
The county board voted 30-1 to drop out of the East Central Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission.
Board Chair Jeff Nooyen says they’re paying about $250,000 a year, and they’re not getting their money’s worth. He believes they’re sending a message that they’re serious.
Nooyen says they still have 11 months to see if they can work something out. He says those negotiations haven’t gone anywhere so far.
If the county leaves the commission, county staff would handle the planning work.
