Republican Sen. Ron Johnson of Oshkosh thinks the U.S. should outsource manufacturing production to other countries.
He says it “makes no sense” for American workers to make products, when billions of people around the world can make goods that are “high quality, dirt cheap.”
Johnson made the comments to the Wisconsin chapter of the Commercial Association of Realtors. He says there aren’t enough workers in the country right now.
Figures from the state Department of Workforce Development show there were nearly 460,000 manufacturing jobs in Wisconsin last month. The industry accounts for 19 percent of all private-sector jobs in the state.
