1 lb. pkg. frozen broccoli cuts
1/2 cup water
3 cups milk
1/4 cup flour
1/2 tsp. garlic salt
1/4 tsp. dry mustard
1/8 tsp. pepper
8 oz. American cheese, cubed
1/2 cup beer
Popcorn, if desired
In medium saucepan, combine broccoli and water. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer 8 minutes. In small bowl, combine 1/2 cup of the milk and flour; stir with wire whisk until well blended. Stir into broccoli and water in saucepan. Add remaining milk, garlic salt, dry mustard and pepper; mix well. Cook and stir until bubbly and thickened. Add cheese; cook 2 to 3 minutes or until melted and smooth. Add beer; cook until thoroughly heated, stirring constantly. Garnish each serving with some popcorn. Makes 4 servings.
