A Kimberly High School senior is talking about the local musical theater honor he won last weekend.
Travis Vandenberg took home the Best Actor trophy at the Center Stage High School Awards at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center. He was honored for his work in Kimberly’s production of “Little Shop of Horrors.”
Vandenberg will help represent northeast Wisconsin at the Jimmy Awards in New York City next month. It’s a national high school musical theater competition. He’ll be able to work with professionals and perform on a Broadway stage.
Vandenberg says he’s been in shows since he was nine years old. He’s going to UW Eau Claire in the fall and he hopes to become a teacher and direct high school productions.
Green Bay East senior Paige Neumeyer won the Best Actress award and she’s also going to New York.
