Officials with the Brown County Sheriff’s Department and the County’s Public Works department are teaming up to direct people around extreme flooding.
Public Works director Paul Fontecchio says there’s still places where water is going up and water is going down. He says even if you see water going down in one place that doesn’t mean it’s doing the same elsewhere.
He says off ramps at Highway 172 will remain closed at Highway GV this morning. He hopes to have that opened later today.
He says the intersection of Huron Road and Highway JJ in Bellevue is also closed because of flooding.
There’s also a number of road closures in the southern part of county like Greenleaf, Holland, Morrison and Wrightstown.
He says flooding has receded in the northern part of the county and roads are opening up to traffic.
But he says once water has receded they need to get engineers out to look at the bridges to make sure they’re structurally sound for traffic.
He advises people not to go around barricades at bridges even if it’s not covered in water.
