The DNR is improving its response to invasive plant outbreaks in the state.
Invasive Plant Coordinator Kelly Kearns says they want to stop the problem before it starts. She says it focuses on species when they first show up, or ones that are still contained in one area. She says they work to eliminate those.
The state currently has an outbreak of porcelain berry in the Madison area and the rapid response team is working on it. DNR officials hope they can get rid of it before it leaves Dane County.
