The number of people without power is dwindling and out-of-state crews played a role in that.
We Energies and Wisconsin Public Service are part of a network of utilities that help each other when there are large outages.
Spokesman Matt Cullen says about 700 workers from outside the area were part of their around-the-clock operations. He says they’re from places like Indiana, Minnesota, and Iowa.
Cullen says over the past several years We Energies and WPS sent crews to Florida, Georgia, and Puerto Rico to help after hurricanes. More than 275,000 customers lost power in last weekend’s storms.
Cullen is also crediting workers that were behind-the-scenes helping support crews in the field.
