Some Republicans want to change state law to ban labeling food as meat, milk or dairy, if they don’t contain those products.
The authors of the proposal believe it’s needed to protect the state’s agriculture and dairy industry. A Senate committee held a hearing on the bills today.
Democratic U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin of Madison has pushed for similar laws at the federal level.
