So long to the Pope today...

Coming up on the PhilCast you'll hear a special show open featuring the topic and then I'll be talking about the sweet retirement package waiting for him.

It's the first time in 600 years the church has had to have a retirement plan kick in for the position.

Also today, our first installment of what will be a daily update I'll call, "The Hunt For First Lady Michelle Obama", as Reggie attempts to land an interview with her on a "Weigh-In Wednesday" segment of the PhilCast.

Wanted: One talented, charming black man

WANTED:

One charming black man who has the 'wow' factor.

A black actor is being sought to play a musician in Season 4 of the 1920's-set British costume drama, "Downton Abbey."

This will be a first for the wildly-popular PBS series.

You'll be seeing Jack Ross, introduced as part of a storyline about race relations in the time period.

According to the casting notes sent out to various agents, the show is looking for someone who is:

"Male, 25-30. A musician [singer] at an exclusive club in the 20's. He's black and very handsome. A real man [not a boy] with charm and charisma."

The right actor should "ideally be able to sing brilliantly."

"Overall, he should be a very attractive man with a certain wow factor," the notes said.

Any ideas as to who should play the role?

An "ILLEGAL" bumper sticker?

The question I have today; When can the cops force you to take a bumper sticker off your car? We'll talk about that on today's PhilCast with a local twist after laying out the story.

Here it is, the bumper sticker in question...

See that leaf? Police in Memphis did and they forced a couple of Ohio State Buckeye fans from Texas to pull over because of it.
The cops thought that was a marijuana leaf.
Maybe one too many donuts clouded their eyes and minds.

Notice the football too?
Maybe take note of the fact that THIS is an Ohio State helmet...the BUCKEYES?!

According to the story the cops still made an issue of this.

My question overall becomes this-even if it WAS a marijuana leaf would the authorities have the right to make you take that off your car?

What CAN the cops force you to remove from your personal property?

An idea for the Oscars telecast

Yes, I watched every minute of the Oscars telecast last night and then some. Keeping an eye on the red carpet fashion, I even watched some of the pre-Oscars coverage on E!.

Just like everyone else, I'll be talking about the show today on the PhilCast. I've got it broken down into three areas:

1. The Awards
2. The Fashion
3. The Telecast

Much is being said and written about Seth McFarland's effort as host of the show.

I'll have my two cents worth, plus I've got an idea for how to approach next year's show with a whole new twist. I'm not going to spill the beans here in my blog though....I'll save it for the PhilCast today.

Also, don't they call the Daytona 500 "The Great American Race"? Interesting, because I didn't see much actual racing on Sunday afternoon.
What's up with that?
