Big anniversary comes for war on tobacco

Tomorrow is the 50th anniversary of the first government report that warned about the dangers of smoking, and a state group is reflecting on its impact.

Dr. Steven Brown is a volunteer for the American Lung Association in Wisconsin, and he says things were a lot different before the U.S. Surgeon General's findings were released. He says teachers used to smoke in classrooms, and people would light up on airplane flights.

Fifty years ago, about half of adults across the country were smokers. That figure is now down to 18 percent.
