Baldwin willing to find money for jobless benefits

A possible extension of long-term unemployment benefits will be back on the table this week in the U.S. Senate. A Democrat from Wisconsin says she's willing to find money, to pay for it.

Sen. Tammy Baldwin of Madison says unfortunately, talk of offsetting the cost, by cutting money from other areas, turned political last week.

Baldwin says unemployment checks are a "lifeline" for families, and they benefit the economy. She says that's because people spend the money right away on things they need, like groceries and gas.

Baldwin says about 24,000 Wisconsinites lost their benefits last week. The federal extension would be for three months, and it would cost about $6.4 billion.
