Genrich wants state minimum wage hike

The minimum wage has stayed the same in Wisconsin for the last 3-1/2 years, and a lawmaker from Green Bay wants to gradually increase it.

Rep. Eric Genrich is co-authoring a bill with three other Democrats. He says they should boost the hourly rate to $8.40 right away, and eventually bring it to $10.10 over a two-year period. After that, the wage could increase every year, based on the consumer price index.

Republicans hold the majority in the Legislature, and it's unlikely that they would take up the proposal.
