DNR holding hearing on hunting in state parks

Last year, the DNR created emergency rules that allow hunting in state parks, and the agency is holding public hearings across the state.

The first meeting is tonight, at the Fox Valley Technical College's Bordini Center.

DNR spokesman Paul Holtan says the rules also cover the bow and muzzleloader deer hunting seasons during the fall and winter, and a turkey hunt in the spring.

Holtan says the Legislature's natural resources committee will talk next month, about whether to make the rules permanent, and they could be in place by the fall.

Tonight's meeting starts a 6 p.m.
