WPS expecting record natural gas use

Customers of a western Wisconsin utility were asked to turn their thermostats to 60-degrees last weekend, to deal with a natural gas shortage caused by a pipeline problem.

But a Green Bay-based utility isn't having any problems. Wisconsin Public Service spokesman Kerry Spees says they use a different pipeline than Xcel Energy, and they have plenty of supply to get through the cold snap.

He says WPS will likely set a record for natural gas use, this week.

Spees says customers don't need to conserve gas because of tight supplies, but it would help them have a smaller bill.
