Business group reacts to Walmart decision

Walmart's plans for a Supercenter in downtown Green Bay were dealt a blow last night, and a group of businesses is pleased with a committee's decision.

The city's plan commission did not go along with Walmart's request to rezone the potential site, as commercial property.

Alex Galt of Parisi's Deli and Kavarna Coffee House is a member of the Broadway Business Alliance. He says it's a hopeful first step.

Walmart is proposing a 150,000-square-foot store, on the former Larsen Cannery site.

The rezoning request now goes to the city council. Mayor Jim Schmitt opposes Walmart's plan.
