Town of Menasha may incorporate

Another town in the Fox Cities is at least going to explore the possibility of incorporating into a city or village.

The town of Menasha board is putting together a special committee to study the idea over the next year.

Administrator Jeff Sturgell says it's something that's been talked about, for 15 to 20 years. He says the town chair and some others would just like to take another look at it, and see if the timing is right.

A large portion of the town of Harrison became a village, last year.

Sturgell says they're the second-largest town in the state, behind Grand Chute, with a population of over 18,000. He says if they incorporate, they'd be able to protect the town from losing pieces of the property tax base, to neighboring communities.

Sturgill says it's possible that they might not be able to incorporate all areas of the town, and that could be a drawback.
