Bill calls for hands-free devices for drivers

Drivers would have to use a hands-free device when they're talking on a cell phone, if a lawmaker from Kenosha gets his way.

Assembly Minority Leader Peter Barca says fumbling with a phone while driving is dangerous. He says the change would improve safety on the roads.

Barca admits it will be difficult to pass the hands-free requirement this year. But he hopes there will be a public hearing, to get the conversation started.

Barca is one of the lawmakers who pushed for the state's ban on texting and driving, several years ago.
