Walker hoping for deal on school bill

Republican leaders hope to wrap up the legislative session early this spring, and Governor Walker says he's still optimistic that they'll find a compromise on a school accountability bill.

A proposal that would have required voucher students in private schools to take a state exam failed last month. It also would have forced failing public schools to close, or reopen as private charter schools.

Governor Walker says his staff is working on a compromise. He says he wants the final proposal to include accountability standards for all schools that receive state funding.
