Goodwill wins state financial literacy award

Governor Walker's office is recognizing a local non-profit for helping its employees learn how to manage their money.

Goodwill of North Central Wisconsin is receiving the governor's award for financial literacy in a workplace.

Christine Hackbarth-Horn is Goodwill's vice president of people and culture. She says they believe managing money is a key part of a person's overall wellness.

She says Goodwill has an emergency fund, called the Hand-Up Fund, and employees contribute to it. The money goes to co-workers, when they have a financial crisis.
