Master plan in place for former mill site

The redevelopment plans for the former Kimberly paper mill site are progressing.

The village board signed off on the proposed master plan last night.

Village president Chuck Kuen says it calls for a variety of uses, including residential and commercial. He says there's mixed use and trails along the river, and plans to reuse some of the existing buildings.

Kuen says the plan for The Cedars neighborhood is the culmination of 16 months of work, including a series of public meetings to gather input. He says it's a working document that may have to be changed in the future, depending on the market.

AIM Demolition bought the former mill site, after the facility closed, several years ago.
