Assembly to vote on chemo bill

The debate over chemotherapy drugs will continue at the Capitol tomorrow.

Assembly Speaker Robin Vos says they will schedule a vote on a bill that would require insurance companies to cover drugs in pill form, if they also provide traditional chemo.

The Senate approved the proposal yesterday, on a 30-2 vote. Assembly Republicans later blocked a push by Democrats to force a vote.

Vos says they need time to talk about the bill, and make any necessary changes.

Assembly Minority Leader Peter Barca raised concerns that if Republicans make changes, the Senate might not support them, and the bill would be dead.
