Early voting bill wouldn't impact Appleton much

An elections bill that Governor Walker is considering wouldn't affect too many people in Appleton.

The proposal would limit early voting hours on weekdays, and eliminate any weekend in-person voting.

Appleton city clerk Char Peterson says they've only been open on one Saturday, leading up to the last presidential elections. In 2012, she says nearly 140 people voted between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on that Saturday.

Peterson says people can request an absentee ballot by mail, if they can't make it during the week.

During the week, the hours would be limited to between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. Peterson says they haven't expanded their weekday hours beyond 5 p.m.
