Gas leak impacts New Holstein

About 30 homes were evacuated in New Holstein yesterday, because of a gas leak.

Authorities say a construction worker hit an underground pipeline, at the corner of Wisconsin Avenue and Mason Street, around 3:30 p.m. It took about four hours for crews to seal the leak.

They also had to shut off gas to more than 700 people, and Wisconsin Public Service workers have had to go door-to-door to turn it back on again.

No one was hurt. The city set up a temporary shelter at the high school.
