Gov. signs off on medical use of pot byproduct

Doctors can now prescribe a drug that's made from a marijuana byproduct to treat seizure disorders in children.

Governor Walker signed a bill legalizing it yesterday. He says it provides a very limited exemption for the cannabis extract, and does not allow medical marijuana.

Amylynne Santiago Volker of Dane County says her nine-year-old son has about 100 seizures a day, and she has high hopes for the drug.

She says the drug will likely be a blessing for a lot of families.
